A Big Catch Up!

I moved from the North Shore (of Boston) to Columbus, Ohio to be near my daughter just before Christmas. A word of advice: NEVER move from state to state during the holiday season. Complete chaos.

The first weeks were spent dealing with transferring prescriptions, finding doctors and dentists, vehicle registration, insurance, and nothing fun! I did manage to join a gym around the corner from my condo in the Short North (the Arts District). I am proud of myself for keeping up my gym schedule. Though the rain never stopped -- for months! So it helped kill time also until I could photograph again.

In February I turned my attention to furnishing my condo. The closets, bathroom, kitchen, and bedroom are now complete! A couch is coming in mid April. Or so they promise. Fingers crossed!

This month I have focused on photography again. I've upgraded or updated some gear, and have started networking.

The above image is in my portfolio and was actually taken during the First "Hike" on January 1st, 2024. As I mentioned previously, it has rained nearly non-stop. So I found a concrete walking path along the river, explaining the fog and mist that rolled in during the shoot.

The path is located in Alexander AEP Park. Named in memory of former City Council President Arvin J. Alexander and donated by American Electric Power. The park is part of the Scioto Mile, which is a string of green spaces along the Scioto River. (Scioto is derived from the Wyandot word for "deer").

More photos taken with my Nikon during this shoot:

I ended up editing out the bridges, focusing on the misty trees instead. If you love bridges, Columbus has several crossing the Scioto River. This one is the Railroad (CSX) South Bridge. It spans 590 feet, with six spans. Unknown date or builder.

For images from this shoot, see my Spoutible feed.

The next post will be more catching up! Stay tuned...

And All the Best!
