Repurposed Quarries

Prairie Oaks is actually a cluster of parks with lakes and a scenic river. The park spreads out into two cities: Plain City and West Jefferson. I explored Darby Bend Lakes. There are three lakes close together, and two further away. Watch the signage if you want to boat, fish, or swim at any of the lakes.

The "lakes" are actually deep, deep quarries recreated as a park in 2002. But 400 of its 1,782 acres have now been restored to the Darby Plains of 200 years ago.

It's also a Birder's Paradise. However, the birds were not cooperative that day. But this little one was!

All the Best,
